New South Wales State Flag ( NSW )

New South Wales with the Capital City of Sydney is Australia 's most populous state and the home of the first European settlement.

The N.S.W State Flag was adopted in 1876 with the badge featuring the Cross of St. George which on the white circle is charged with the English Lion and four stars of the Southern Cross constellation.

Granted by King Edward VII in Oct 1906, the NSW Coat of Arms features a shield containing the NSW badge with images of wheat and sheep on a blue background. The lion and kangaroo supporting the shield represent England and Australia respectively. The Latin motto written on the sash below the shield meaning "Newly risen, how bright thou shinest", as also indicated by the crest of a rising sun, representing a rising country.
