Often deceased ex-servicemen have the national flag draped over their coffin but this practice is not exclusive to war veterans.
When the Australian national flag drapes a coffin at a funeral. The Union flag canton should be over the left shoulder of the deceased.
Note many would consider the Union flag the Union Jack but it is only known by the latter when flying from a ship. The “Jack's” function is the same as a War Ensign, they identify the war-ship's nationality. |
