Pennant House Managing Director, Peter Wagener, will walk to Mandurah to help raise funds to find a cure for Leukaemia.

Our Managing Director, Peter Wagener, will walk from Perth to Mandurah on Saturday 5th June 2021, to help raise funds for Leukaemia Foundation.

Starting from Elizabeth Quay at around 3am, Peter is expected to finish his walk, arriving at the Mandurah foreshore around 3pm – 4pm.

The journey will take approx. 12+ hours.Peter is aiming to raise $100,000 to support the Leukaemia Foundation’s research into finding a cure for the condition.

This walk is Peter’s way of raising awareness of the disease, as well as a reminder to everyone to attend an annual general health check.

“It’s a long walk, but it’s important to get the message out there” Peter said.

“Most people wouldn’t even know they had leukaemia until it’s too late. Early intervention is the key."

Peter was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia in February 2020 after his annual general health check found an elevated white blood cell count.

Peter explained how the diagnosis was a huge shock, especially as he had no symptoms.

“I’m grateful to know about it now, before symptoms start and because we found it early, we can monitor it.”

“It just highlights how important it is to get general health checks every year.”Leukaemia is a form of blood cancer that develops in the bone marrow.

There are numerous kinds of Leukaemia, some slow growing, and others very aggressive.

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia is slow growing, and if detected early, treatment may not be needed for some time.

The key to all cancers is early diagnosis. For further information on Leukaemia or to donate and support Peter on his walk can donate at
